‘Big Screen’ is a collection of theme songs from some of the larger, higher profile projects I’ve been privileged to be a part of, such as The Commonwealth Games, The Canada Summer Games, Earth Day Canada, Japanese environmental radio specials, as well as TV and radio themes. I chose the name ‘Big Screen’ because some of these pieces were first presented on large multi-screen, multi-projector, or full screen theatre formats. The name seemed fitting. Several of these tracks co-exist on other albums, but the idea here was to have them all together on one album.

Because most of these songs weren’t originally intended to be on a Morry Stearns solo album, the goal when choosing the lead vocalist for each project was to simply put all egos aside, and choose the singer who was best suited for each track... who could really ‘sell it’. So, the majority of the male leads on these tracks feature my dear friend and amazing singer... Duncan Meiklejohn, simply because he’s just so good, and because he’s always been able to bring my lyrics and melodies to life with such power, passion, and emotion. We used to tease that Duncan could ‘sing the phonebook’ and make you believe it. The female leads largely feature another dear friend and amazing vocalist, April Gislason... for all the same reasons. Tania Hancheroff delivers a stellar lead on ‘Hello World’ as does Linda Kidder on ‘Touch the World’ and Gord Maxwell on ‘I Work the Land’.

I’ve worked with some very fine singers through the years... Celine Dion, Peabo Bryson, Christina Aguilera, Peter Cetera, Michael Bolton and others. As far as I’m concerned, Duncan, Linda, April, Tania, and Gord are right up there among the greats. Thanks guys... my songs always turned out better because of you.
